Default low coolant light?

My low coolant light is staying illuminated the whole duration the car is on and this has been going on for the past 2 months. The coolant is full, the temp stays real low (around 160-170), and the water pump and thermostat are both only about 4 months old. Any idea why?

Your low coolant sensor probably crapped out. It's a very common problem. If you unplug the sensor, the light will stay off (located on the passenger side of the radiator, about 1/3 of the way down).

Or you can replace it.

the sensor might just be dirty, drain the coolant, remove the sensor clean it and replace. It could be caused by dexcool gumming it up. or oil

As I recall that sensor was a little on the pricey side; $40.

OK, I have a question on this too.

About a month ago I changed the coolant and the low level sensor since my light was on (1995 Z28). Light stayed off about a week and now it's back on again. Coolant is fresh and full with a brand new sensor... can't understand why it decided to come on again?

I guess I can take the battery out and check the connection again but that is probably the last thing I can think of to do. Any other suggestions?

These coolant low sensors are very problematic whether new or used and have the background history to prove it.

Nothing else to say.

Yeah, assume that if the factory one is crap and has to be unplugged the aftermarket ones aren't going to be much better. I'd do the unplug it and never think about it again mod, cheap and lasts...
