Those pieces look meticulously hand-polished. Do a search for methods and techniques to polishing aluminum, and you will see that it is very time-consuming, but WELL WORTH the results.

I would guess ceramachrome like used on headers. Probably some elbow grease ahead of time.

That's gonna make the motor run hotter as it can't dissipate as much heat. Probably negligible, but every little bit helps.

Time and/or Money is all it takes.
But there's a good deal of follow-up work to do if you want to maintain the shine.

Quite a bit of time was put into my fuel rails, A/C and other shiny items under
the hood while I was waiting for the new motor. Sure didn't last as long as I would have hoped
