Help with reverse lights
Help with reverse lights So I had to change my complete engine wiring harness because my original one was just beat to hell and melted on the pass. side header. The only harness I was able to find was from a '97 automatic car, my car is a '97 6 speed car. Everything works but the speedo and reverse lights. Does anyone know what wires i need to hook up from the automatic harness? Thanks in advance.

You are going to have to wire that Connector into the Harness..basically get a pinout of your Harness Connectors and find the Reverse Light & 12v Power Wire that is on the car side in the Connnectors there under the Glove Box. Use a Test Light to find the power, the Rev. Light wire is Lime Green. Once you have found them you will have to line them up in the Engine Harness.
I don't know why the Speedo won't work..that's wierd.

wouldnt it just be easier for him to cut the reverse light connector off his old harness and splice it to the new one?
My car was an automatic and I did the swap a few years back, and if I remember correctly all I had to do was crimp the 2 leads off the reverse light connector to the brown and green wires on the a4 shifter connector (obviously I had to dig the brown and green wires out of the a4 shifter bundle and cut them off at the connector).

Those 2 Wires will be in either the Blue or White Connectors. The easiest way to find out is to strip them and the connector out of your messed up harness and put them in the new harness in the same exact spot.
