Default Idle problem

Just joined the forum and have been reading alot of good info the last few days. Here is my problem. I am having a slight idle issue. The car idles just over 1k for a few seconds and then it will drop to where its suppose to be. It does this when you first crank it up, when you roll up to a red light or a stop, basically does it all the time. Where should I start? MAF?

Car is a 96 z28 6M LT1
It is a built motor with a CAI

If you have a scanner you may want to check your IAC voltage and/or counts (a quick search will show you how to do this).

You also might want to check for an intake leak after the MAF. Unmetered air will cause a change in idle.

I dont have a scanner, but the car did have gas on it and he had it where it went in at the intake boot between the throttle body and the MAF. I know I need a new boot because he plugged it off and I just dont like that.

I will look into the IAC tho. Thanks.

if you have a vacuum leak as well it will miss with the idle.. so check your rubber hoses on the intake no the DS side

I will check the vacuum lines tomorrow. It really didnt do it today. I rewired the MSD ignition box last night. I really thing the factory intake elbow is to blame. It has to go. Where is a good place to get a good one?
