all i had to read was the last line of your post to know you obviously have no clue. what kind of lobes on your ls1 cam? what beehives did you use with the cc503, and where were they installed?

XER lobes on my LS1 cam aka (LG G5X3 114lsa). Comp-918's were setup with the LE2 heads and bolted on the car. Couldn't be too hard to screw up the install height on the valve spring so that wasn't the culprit. Beehive springs just can't handle high rpm or bigger cams. The Dual springs have a higher seat pressure open and closed which is obviously better for bigger cam's to prevent valve float. Valve float is what the 503 cam/Comp-918 setup had in a bad way! It fell off like crazy in the tune above 5800 and wouldn't take anymore fuel which is the case of both running out of cam and valve float!

Beehives work really well when matched with the right cam, I know this. But I personally wouldn't use beehives on anything over .550 lift that has aggressive lobes.

You might want to call Dart's Tech line too; number's on their site. I believe they offer 987s on their LT1 heads; doubles with a damper. As I recall, the Dart heads I recently bought for my son's 96 LT1 came with them.

As far as Golds, most everyone has the highest respect for Lloyd Elliott and I see him recommended far more than any other head porter on the 8 websites I visit daily. AI comes in second. So if LE says they're the best spring, I have to pay attention.

Lloyd recently posted on springs on LS1LT1.com and provided some valuable information of valve springs, Golds and others. He wrote he uses them whenever he can. Here's the link: http://www.ls1lt1.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32226

Also, I recently read that the 26918 beehives and others are good for only occasional drag race use. I haven't seen anything posted about the beehives mentioned in this thread.

Hope this helps.

Jake
