Thumbs down PCM ground cable bolt

Anyone know the size of this bolt? I looked up Shoebox but could not find its sepcs. I know, I have misplaced quite a few bolts haven't I?

Everything is assembled, except for this ground cable.

I want to drive it open headers tomorrow morning, so !!!

Cyl head holes are 3/8 16 thread. 5/8" long should be plenty without bottoming out

It's a stud, not a bolt.

I discarded those brackets. Feel free to shoot me please.

I was told by a highly experienced friend that if the PCM ground cable is not ground properly to the block, the engine will not start. Is this true?

Yea, it won't start..PCM isn't grounded therefore it won't turn on. If you have to integrate it with another ground.

It will run. I've read lots of posts of running LT1s with that not grounded. The PCM has multiple grounds. It is better to have them all grounded to avoid odd problems, though.

i am writing to you off the nose of the camaro.

i earthed the pcm, all the wires are connected, timing has been double checked, there is spark but it wont start.

there is over 30 litres of fuel in the tank (i just filled it with a big can), and it seems to be getting fuel because a few cylinders fired up but it wont even run.

what could be the reason? could it be the valve lash adjustment? i did it according to comp cams, however the lifters were soft when i did it, so should i attempt to do the adjustment once again?

HURRY UP! lol

If it is indeed an opti issue , it would be neat if somebody would develope an opti with removeable weather pack optical sensor. This would make opti service/trouble shooting much easier.

I would go over ignition wiring with voltmeter to be sure.

I readjusted the valve lash, and it roared to life once again, open headers

I had remembered when I removed the lifters, I had put them upside down to get the dirty oil out of them. I soaked them in 20w50 for about a day I think as I was doing other things with the engine, and then I did set the valve lash after installing the heads. However, they had no pressure in them, and I probably ended up with wrong adjustment that the valves never seated shut after the lifters pumped up, no compression and hence no combustion.

However, it did idle at 400-450 RPM and was very rough, the rockers were so loud I thought the headers were banging the body. I revved it up to 800RPM and the sound went away. The O2 sensors were not plugged in as I have yet to make the extensions.

Is this normal to idle that low without the tune? I did port the heads and match the intake as well.

Even at that low RPM I had 40psi oil pressure, which I am very happy about.

Now awaiting my OBD1 cable to arrive, and start messing with Tunercats
