bad skip?

bad skip? to start off on the way to the track my car starts to skip and at WOT it hesitates and goes no where, but it is an intermittent problem, because every once and a while the car would act fine and when i got on it it reacted as it should. It acted like it was on 7 cylinders.
but for the entire 2 hour drive up the car skipped and i burned the most gas i ever have going up. I was thinking it was the o2 sensors. I dont think it was a burnt wire because it stopped once i got to the track.
once i got to the track the skip was gone and it never came back for the rest of the night including the ride back.
any ideas of what it could be?
the car is a 95 z28
