you can search for a gear calculator i know ive seen it before.. you tried the RPO code? or you can pull cover and count teeth, all kinds of different methods, probably figure a easy one if ya search some. i looked briefly for it but couldnt find it.

the easiest would probably be known exact MPH in 4th gear and a certain RPM
or 3rd if you are auto i didnt pay attention

Jack rear up and use jackstands.
Chalk a line on the drive shaft and tire.
Spin tire and count how many revolutions the drive shaft goes vs. one revolution of the tire. If the DS turns 3.42 times then you get the idea...

Of course there is, but if you are asking in lieu of the codes then this is a sure fire method to find out what final ratio you have. If you bought the car pre-owned and are not sure whether the gears have been changed etc...
Google has all kinds of gear/mph calculators.

A stock A4 is going to have 2.73s or 3.23s.

The RPO sticker on your door will tell you.

Axle codes
GU2 : AXLE REAR, 2.73 RATIO

GU4 : AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO (V6)

GU5 : AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO

GU6 : AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO

Earlier models were in the glove box. Later models on the door. Should be one or the other.

Counting driveshaft revolutions versus one tire revolution is the sure-fire way to determine what gears (if you aren't certain the gears are factory).

that sounds pretty high for stock 3.23's. i have stock 3.23's and at 2500rpm im at 80mph. you might have a lower gear ratio(higher numerically)
