Default idle question...

is there any other way to get the idle lower than 1000rpms. the throttle stop screw is back all the way. have the cc503 cam and you can only really hear it cam around 800-850.

High idle is a very common problem after switching to an aftermarket throttle body (Holley, etc...). The easiest way to go about fixing it is to install an LS1.

You need to set the idle with a tune, mine idles at 750 and I have a CC503, but I am on stock cube. It lopes pretty well and I am still running it untuned.

You can use Freescan to set your idle to whatever you desire.

BTW for a 383 you could have gone with a bigger cam bro.

I've been having damn near the same issue! Adjust the TPS, you can do this by elongating the mounting holes and turning the TPS, Here is the link that will guide you to success, http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/tps.html I need to turn mine a little more but not much, Mine went from about 1500 rpm to about 1000 rpm of course mine acts up when warmed up a bit! Good luck it's a cake walk really, easy to get to!

the idle speed is set in the tune, stop messing with the tb unless you have a large cam (you don't) and need to crack/drill the blades. Also don't believe the stock tach, mine reads about 200 rpm high at idle and anywhere north of 3k its close to 500rpm off.

oh yeah, since you're not cracking the throttle blades there should be nothing wrong with the stock tps setting. but instead of guessing, why don't you get datamaster and tunercat so you can do everything yourself, and actually see what's going on

This is true my stock tach is off too, my Autometer reads 1250-1300 at idle off of my crank trigger and my stock tach is up around 1500 reading off the stock ECM. And also yes I agree there is no need to drill TB Blades, I'm idling mint with a huge cam and I have not one hole/crack in my blades.

Hey Wicked what's going on bro, I love the cam by the way and so does everyone that hears that beast, I'll have to get some sound clips with my new exhaust setup, WOW!!! I had the TPS issue after installing the cc306 and then I bought a new sensor and then still read's all fucked up, well high actually but you get the point. I adjusted the TPS in the link that I posted and it helped out alot! I need to turn it a tad bit more but I thought I would throw my 2 cents in since my TPS was stock and at the stock setting at the time as well, although I did end up adjusting the set screw cracking the blades a bit to get it to run/idle.... I had my car tuned by madtuner and it stayed about 750-800 for a couple weeks and then started idling all kinds of crazy after being warmed up. I adjusted like stated and then it runs better for sure! Hell maybe I need to adjust my screw back out a tad and I'll be damn near perfect! I was thinking this for a bit and then I got on the TPS kick since it was reading high in my codes being thrown!
