oil ring question

so last night I file fit my rings most of them I should say all went fine except the oil expander rings(wavy one) they are like 1/2 -1 full "tooth" to big I remember reading or hearing somewhere that you arn't supossed to file those or you cant .... so besides getting a new set that prob is to big anway is there any thing I can do? dremel? lol
whats the gap supossed to be on those anyway in the info packet that came with the piston/ring kit I got it just says .015 for the support rails but does not metion the expanders

Never delt with file fit oil rings before, but they aren't supposed to over lap at all or you'll have a burner. The ones I have messed with are also color coded red/green on the ends where you lock them together.

There should be a male tang and a female receiver on either end. When you put them on those two ends should slide into each other. I'll see if I can find a pic somewhere.

This is a link that has a couple pictures. Notice these are Yellow/White instead of Green/Red and in the pic below you can see how they are butted up against each other when installed. If you overlap the ends, you'll burn oil, they should butt up against each other.

this is what mine look like one end is red
I dont think there is anything I can do with out having a possible problem with the ring lapping on its self I'll talk to the shop when i take my stuff in to get balanced I guess
its weird all the other stuff fit perfect then i get to testing these and...
