Default New LT1 distributor option? Experts inside.

oK guys i have been driving and racing my LT1 T/A for 8yrs so I have a few opti probelms but not very many. I have been having the ignition breakup around 6500-6600. SO i short shidt the car at 6400 and it ran 10.80's but i would like to fix the problem. I don't have the cash to go with Big stuff 3 or Fast XFI so I was thinking of going Delteq or LS1 conversion PCM when this came to mind. How about buy an Acell pro ram intake, install an MSD distributor in the back and run just the igniton off that. If you hookup power, ground, MSD coil and 6AL it would have to fire the the engine. I would leave the opti hooked up for the PCM. That is what Delteq and LTCC are doing right? What is a good small distributor that fits under the cowl and would work with what I am tgrying to do? Sounds like it would work. If you're leaving the optical sensor in there then I don't see why it wouldn't work. The PCM is then still receiving the signals it needs so I think it would work just fine. I'd say hopefully it works well for you.

You can run a crab style off the LT1 intake also with modification

Does anybody have a part # that is running a distributor in the rear in a F-body. I am looking for something small so i don't have to drop the cradle to remove the distributor and or intake. I am sure this will work so anybody else interested in getting rid of the opti?

Look at a Vortec style Distributor......Here This is a good start for the cap size. The biggest issue would be if you need to hook up the ign. module, but if you continue to use all the factory stuff than you shouldn't need to, The spark advance will come from the pcm in the timing of the coil firing.

I'd say try this and you shouldn't have cowl issues...
