Default Problems with a hypertech programmer.

I was trying to sell the hypertech programmer to a guy with a 96 lt1 impala. he wanted to see if it would install before he bought it so i said sure. when we hooked it up to the port underneath the steering wheel with the key on, it didn't go into a programming mode. it scanned the computer and it said "cycle power to computer" or something along those lines and it turned off. Does this happen often? i think it may have something to do with his car cuz there were wires all underneath the dash like someone had messed with it.

I wanna get this thing sold but he won't buy it unless it says it can program....Any advice or suggestions on what I should try to do?

Hook it to your car or another LT1 car to make sure it works, then you'll know.

Was your car returned to stock first?

You should not be trying to use a f-body Hypertech on a b-body.

For that matter you should not be trying to use a Hypertech, they are junk.

I realize its junk thats y im selling it and not using it. a custom tune is much more cost effective and better all around.

the manual says it can be used on the impalas also..

Edit: yes it is returned to stock. if the tune was still in my camaro it would have read a "vin mismatch".....
