Has anyone ever installed a kit on their 94+ LT1s?

I don't recall seeing any plumbing for one when I had the engine bare down to just the block. Have I missed something here? Could it have been deleted somehow?

hes talking about the sandwich adapter that goes inbetween the filter and the block that has engine coolant flowing through it. i deleted it. i was thinking about making my own oil cooler soon

I was also thinking of installing one, we have some seriously hot summers here, would benefit a lot from one.

However, also need to consider the drop in oil pressure, and how much it would be.

I was thinking of an oil filter relocation kit, and plump a cooler within it somewhere, but need to keep the plumbing pretty small on internal diameter to maintain pressure.

What did you have in mind bro?

i hear ya. i just wanna put a cooler in so when i rev her to redline i wont worry so much. i was thinking of either a sandwich adapter that just goes to a small radiator somewhere. i woudnt worry about pressure that much as compared to volume. i wouldnt want to run to small of a line and starve anything of oil. or relocate my filter. but i dont think i wanna deal with having to find a place for it.

Actually, I think more people have removed that thing than added it LOL
Shouldn't be too hard to find the adapter and plumbing for sale cheap.

Mine's in the garage somewhere in the pile of spare parts.

They came from the factory with one. And so does other gm engines like my 2 wheel drive blazer. I think they are a waste of time because they are not a cooler????? In the winter they heat the oil. In the summer they are coolers to some extent. I did some testing on them and found they are basically not coolers the way they are installed. If you use the filter adapter with a seperate cooler radiator and circulator pump with a resivor then they work great. In stock form the best place for them is on a nail in the garage wall. Along with the piping. They wont fit with headers any way so dont waste your time or money. TOM

I replaced my stock oil cooler parts for a derale 6 row oil cooler with a sandwich adapter and 8ft of hoses. It does a ok job at keeping the temps down when I'm not reving high but when I do the temps usually peak close to 260 even with the coolant fans on! What I'm gonna do is upgrade to a larger larger cooler with a built in cooling fans...to the OP that might be your best solution as well!

Some do, think it was an option. My 94 had one but my 97 doesn't and neither do my dad's 96 or my sister's 94 I think.

My 94 had one. It is the KC4 option.I don't think it was rare on 93-94s. 95-97 Do not seem to have them as much, they also changed the design in 95.

My 94 had one too, the key word being "had". Oil pressure did go up a few lbs. once removed as other people had mentioned.

small heads up, the tube and fin design linked above actually restricts flow because of all the tight 180 deg bends. look for a plate and bar design cooler such as this canton, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTR-23-500/. they tend to be a little more expensive but flow far better with less pressure loss. they flow like a radiator.
