Beyond that the stock ignition works just fine. I HAD an aftermarket ignition box on my car and recently stopped using it with no impact on performance. Mine is a mid 11 second NA car over 4000lbs. Stock opti, stock coil, stock module. Why do so many guys with SO much less performance BLINDLY believe they need to spend huge sums of money on ignition "upgrades"?
I have always believed that much of what the General gave us was the cheapest solution made with the cheapest parts. The aftermarket has had much time to research and offer us a better solution.
You only have to go and do search on here to find that may people have re-occurring opti issues regardless of power levels and several LT1 owners where I live (UK) have also had issues. We also have to deal with what the distributors choose to import for us (sometimes very poor Chinese parts) or import ourselves at a much greater cost. I had delteq in mind for both the above reasons. I don't consider that to be blind. TBH I find your response very patronising, but at least i know your opinion doesn't count for much.

Unless you’re gonna go with the EFI Connection LS1 control system, the LTCC is the way to go but keep in mind that the LTCC still uses the optispark as did the now defunct Deltec.

Having one coil per cylinder is much better than using a single coil. This is why all cars today have it. The ability to charge the coil once every two crank revs rather than 8 times per two revs greatly improves the spark.

The optispark is an area of issues on the LT1. The fact that the water pump needs to be removed makes it’s repair/replacement unduly difficult.

Yes, the LS blocks can’t be bored much but there are many block options from GM as well as the aftermarket. LT1 blocks have no alternatives available. The much ballyhooed Dart SHP LT1 block has been canceled. Another issue with the LT1 is it seems to often blow head gaskets, usually between cylinders 5 & 7 just like any other Chevy small block.

The LS1 engine is a better designed, running, power producing motor than the LT1 is. Lighter, less emissions, better fuel economy, easier to work on, more plentiful and there’s vastly more soup-it-up parts available in the aftermarket regardless of cost.

Having owned both, I’ll also say that the LS1 is a better platform than the LT1.

The LT1 comes in low on HP right out of the box compared to an Lsx and that's where most get their complaints.

money spent in the right places can easily get past this issue, but now Lsx cars are becoming so cheap and bolt-on for bolt-on the Lsx is going to continue to out perform the LTx in most cases

opti's suck and I have been through my share with over my 2 LT1 cars and I will be doing the EFI Connection 24x setup soon which will solve all that drama

I always get told to swap to an Lsx, but I love my car and it's original foundation. The Ls1 ECU swap will take away the Opti issue and ECU limits and give me no reason to ever swap ( IMO ). The blocks are strong, great heads out and with a cheap option like the EFI 24x setup big HP becomes much easier with programming now over a stand along ECU like FAST or BS3.

any motor can run hard, but it just takes proper planning for a proper setup

Thanks Guys,

I have looked at the LTCC and agree it looks like a quality product. I guess thats where I'll look once the inevitable opti failure occurs.
