Why?
The LT1 is a very good engine IMHO. I love mine. Sure the LSX is superior but there is a lot of potential in the LTXs. They have a somewhat troublesome Optical distributor. If they get wet or, God forbid, have coolant leaked on them they'll probably crap out, and are not very cheap to replace. The reverse flow cooling system also seems to be a problem if it isn't bled properly. Overheating and head warping and head gasket problems can result. Other than that I don't understand why they are "hated". They're just a more sophistocated Gen I SBC.

Who knows. All the LSX guys I hang with say swap it out or something along the lines of it's "**** slow", hahaha. I guess because it's just outdated. But It proves it's worth to me, it's a great and very reliable engine, 225K and still going strong.
Delteq is basically dead.
The LT1 is hated because is is the middle child. Is very similar to a gen 1 but just different enough those guys don't accept it. The LS was a much larger redesign and recieved with a more open mind.
The LT1 is a great motor, just missunderstood and a LOT of them are BADLY modded.

Umm no. LSX stuff is way more expensive dollar for dollar. Why would you want a motor that has to be re sleaved when you break it (and you will break it) when you can just overbore an LT1 and be good to go. Once you get into making serious power the expense is about the same anyways. LT1 cars are cheaper, sound better, and deliver much joy when a surprised LSX owner suddenly finds himself in your rear view mirror. Give me an LT1 anyday.
imo .the lt1 is a good performance engine ... when its running properly.the
problem with it is space the engine compartment is so ******* tight
last summer it took me 3 hours to install new a-c compessor .

Delteq has been dead some time and was always inferior to the LTCC, the fact it is still what everyone wants despite being the lesser engineered, less reliable version is proof that the real problem the LT1 has is the lack of knowledge of many of it's owners.
Beyond that the stock ignition works just fine. I HAD an aftermarket ignition box on my car and recently stopped using it with no impact on performance. Mine is a mid 11 second NA car over 4000lbs. Stock opti, stock coil, stock module. Why do so many guys with SO much less performance BLINDLY believe they need to spend huge sums of money on ignition "upgrades"?
