your not going to pass without cats, and dont think you will deleting air and EGR either. you can pass with lt's as long as you keep the emissions

You want to be careful with how close you locate any opening (cutout) to the header. It will allow air to reach o2 sensors and throw off readings of you get too close. I would try to get a smaller tube style high flow cat to place right where the stock cat location was.

You just need the air portion of your system to "look" ok on your car for the testing. It will not throw a code if you disable it. Pulling the fuse will do this from what I understand on 95 and below. After you pass you can put plugs in and block off air portion on your headers.

You want the Long tubes to come down, with your Y or X pipe connected with flanges so it can be bolted on or off, do not weld it to the headers. Then you want the cutouts to be before the cats (otherwise you are defeating the purpose of a cutout), and in the "straight" part of the Y/X pipe. You need 2 cats and 2 cutouts, don't try to pull it off once the Y pipe comes together.

There are people that have passed with no cats with a good tune.

Here is pics of my dual catted y-pipe. I bought Pacestters ORY and added the fullsize 3" Magnaflow converters. I did a track test with an ORY and I ran the same ET and MPH as with cats so don't worry about cutouts. You could fit them but you loose a lot of ground clearance. Depending on the emission limits in your state you may have trouble on Nox due to the EGR not functioning properly with the reduced back pressure in the exhaust.

They make a shorter version of the cat that would fit better. The guts are the same but the overall length is about 3 inches shorter. I don't have the part number for it though. You can use clamps if you like but I hate leaks so welding is better. As said above you don't need air pipes on the cats.

Correct no air pipes on the cats. Factory air feeds the manifolds on cold start to help light up the cats. Your headers will have the same connections

Yeah the cats I ended up with had the pipes but just left them capped off. Thats all they had in stock when I got mine.
