speed pro pistons, speed pro rings, hardened race bearings, arp bolts in everything, eagel H beam rods, stock crank just polished, 306 comp cam, port and polished LT1 heads with 3 angle valve job with some comp pro mag NSA 1.6 rockers of course guide plates I plan to make close to 400-420 hp, Oh and I'll be throwing on a 150 shot since the rings were gapped for the juice this upcoming spring, so it should be a wicked ride. I have alot more mods along with that as well like 58mm BBK TB, LT's headers, EWP, SLP lid, weight reduction like a mug and you know pretty much everything you can do not to mention everything you can do to the suspension but a k-member!

because in a few months I'm going to buy a pair of Le2 heads and a wet nitrous kit so I feel that 4 bolt mains would have given me just a bit more assurance the bottom end will hold up at the 500hp level.

If I where you, I'd worry more about the cast crank. I do wish you good luck though, and hopefully everything works out well.

Agreed, the eagle cast crank is the only thing I would worry about.

What did your car dyno with the 150 shot of nitrous
put down 525 RWHP thru the TH400 and 9" rearend...... would have probably made more like 575 RWHP if I kept the T56..... The 400 will cost you an easy 50 hp at the wheels when you convert.... but your car will be alot faster at the track...

They've been around along time and I hear that some of SRP and keith and black pistons are made there at speed pro corp just stamped with there own logo's, Not sure if this is true but this is what I've heard from one of the local machine shops around hear when I was talking about my motor build up and which pistons to get and where from. Speed pro piston's are a great budget build piston and from what I've also heard since I'm not an expert by any means that it's about the rings you get. It's always good to get some bad *** rings! i just went with some speed pro rings because I'm not going to have a
800hp + motor but they make some high dollar rings out there.

Ive read 99% good things about them or I would have swapped them out. Only negitive is they are stock style and not a fully free floating wrist pin style

So if i wanted to rev high with a 90K+ mile bottom end, all i really need to do is R&R the rod bolts with ARPs? Can i do bearings on my own?

Right now i am still using the stock rev limiter, just because I dont have the budget to deal with building a new bottom end. I'd love to wind it higher though (with some peace of mind.)

no no no !! You either have to re-size the rods WITH the new ARP bolts installed to the proper torque, or get new rods.

by re-size do mean the bolts are a bigger diameter? I realize they have to be torqued properly.

Re-sizing means making the bearing journal in the big end of the rod round again. The shortblock I used probably lived a very easy life, I doubt if it ever saw 6000 rpm, yet the rod big ends were as much as .0015" out of round. Imagine how much local loading that puts on the bearings instead of spreading the load over a bigger bearing surface. That's a big factor in spun bearings.

Ok, I see what youre saying. So the easiest way for a DIY'er would be to just replace them, or take them to a machine shop.
