Default timing set to use with 24x?

I currently have a double roller timing chain. The kit is for single roller's only. What should I use - will a stock set work?

I just want to be sure the stock link setup will clear - I dont know which is narrower between a stock link and the typical single roller.

RamAir95 - 24x is the LS1 pcm conversion:

You know EFI Connection has a different 24x reluctor for use with a dr timing set and they're coming out with a billet timing cover which will clear the dr timing set with their 24x reluctor. I'm getting ready to send my single roller reluctor back and get the dr reluctor then my machince shop is going to mock everything up and see how close/far off the 96-97 timing cover is and if they can make it work then great but if not then I'm going to bite the bullet for the billet timing cover from EFI Connections.

ive already got an EWP with a chloyes double roller. im going to have to change either the timing set or the cover - trying to figure out the best option. The thing is, even with the single roller setup I would have to update to a 96-97 timing cover. If the price is decent on the eficonnection piece I might as well just their version and be done with it.

Right, if you have an ewp I wouldn't mess with the LT4 set like suggested before, just due to the cost there's no point when you can pick up a single roller from Comp and use that which will be a lot cheaper. Theres a lot of LS1s out there using single roller set ups

agreed. I just want to see if the new cover will cost me less than a new single roller chain. Im not afraid of using a single roller, but theres no sense in giving up my double roller if the cover is cheaper than a new set. knowwatimean?

The billet aluminum LT1 timing cover should not exceed $350.00.

A new heavy duty single row timing set (if running electric pump) is about $80.00 from Summit.

Keep in mind this is billet and begins as a 20lb piece of material. Then machine time and so on. No one can make a billet timing cover for less than the price of a heavy duty single row timing set. Unfortunately not even close.

That is a nice friggin front cover for the LT1. Can the cover be used without the EFI 24x system to take advantage of all DR's to fit under the cover ?

PS: When will the cover be available for purchase.

^ You know that a dr timing set will fit under a stock cover, the 93-95 will require some clearancing but I have a 96-97 cover and it cleared my Rollmaster dr timing set without any extra work. I'm already on the EFI Connection list for the billet timing cover I'm just waiting for the email that it's available.

Yes, there will be two versions. One with water pump drive provision and one without water pump drive provision.

(At this time) all of the timing covers will have crank sensor provision. But we have plenty of sensor plugs lying around that bolt in the sensor hole and seal with an O-ring.

The covers will be available for purchase in the upcoming weeks. The first batch of these covers will begin this week.

Its too bad the timing cover interlocks with the oil pan. Otherwise I'd imagine you could just machine a spacer for a lot cheaper.

Let me know when you have one ready without the water pump provision. I already have a spare CSR EWP to go with this cover.
