Tuner Cat is what I use and it's pretty good.

Since he is OBDII you will probably need something different and not sure what guys are using these days for OBDII.

Tunercat OBDII is now called JET Dynamic Spectrum Tuner. It is the only tuner worth a darn for LT1 OBDIIs. LT1Edit is available but not in the same class.

The right thing to do imo would be to contact efi connection and do the ls1 pcm/coil swap, but it's still a bit pricey... Since he has a 96 it already has the 24x reluctor wheel and crank sensor. Or just stick with what you have and get the jet dst software. The only thing is that you need a seperate scan/log software to use with the jet since it's a tune only software!!

Wish we could get a real software going like EFIlive or HPtuners. Something that can data log and tune that can be used by many. In my area there is no one that can tune without driving far distances.

The OBDII LT1 engines have a 4 tooth (4x) reluctor wheel and different sensor than what must be used with the 24x reluctor.

My point is that the obd2 lt1 integrates with the lsx pcm/coil swap easier than the obd1. Since it has a reluctor wheel and crank sensor, makes it a little easier and cheaper swap. My mistake for saying obd2 lt1 had the 24x reluctor wheel.

Oh yes, definitely a step in the right direction because of:
- 96-97 Timing Cover (has crank sensor/reluctor provision)
- 96-97 Crank Hub (shorter than 92-95 hub to accomodate reluctor thickness)
