Default couple of ?s towards end of build

Can I run the stock oil pan with a HV pump? Will it suck it dry? Can I just build bat wings to eliminate a new pan and pick up tube?

Will crane golds work under the stock valve covers?

Sorry if it sounds like I'm skimping at the end but work wasn't like it was when I started the build almost 2 years ago and I'm ready to drive it before all the paint falls off lol

Motor is a 383/Le2 head - Le4 cam - 12:1 cr

Thanks

you can run a stock pan with a hv pump.....you may want to reconsider the hv pump....it has a tendency to destroy the plastic drive. Plus you really don't need it. but to each his own. As for the gold rockers.....are they 1.6's? I'd assume you'll just have to clearance the covers just like every other 1.6.......

Gotcha, thanks for the responce. I bought the pump awhile ago. But I'm pretty sure it was a hv.

Do you just hack the spider bracing in the valve cover?

to tell you the truth....don't know, I just bought tall covers and modified the alt. to work. I'm lazy and didn't mind spending the money since they were cheap. IIRC there's a set of proform's for sale in the classifieds for like $100....same ones I got the black crinkle finish...I'd spend the cash then you don't have to deal with hacked stockers....just my opinion though

Yes you just cut the Bracing on the header side of the valve covers out. Heres a link to show you.

I just read that and it said to cut the side closest to the intake manifold.

An HV pump is rarely needed and is a bad idea on a stock pan (yes, it can suck the pan low enough to cause starvation). The premature destruction of the drive gear (as already mentioned) is an issue, too.

+1 on NOT using a HV pump on a stock pan.

I suggest the Melling 10554. It comes with a new hardened shaft.
