Default Thinkin of switching cams....

I've been debating on changing cams for the last week or two. My opti went out on me and I've got the front of the motor tore down wouldn't be too much more to go. as of right now I'm running the the Comp XE 236/242 110 in my 355 right now. It definitely wasn't very street friendly.... i'm planning on running a good amount of nitrous in the near future. The plan was going with the Comp 224/236 114 blower cam. I know its more than likely not gonna be much more street friendly but I'm assuming it would more than likely be better for the nitrous. Let me know what you guys think...

what about a custom AI/LE grind??

I would go with a custom grind if it were me. Unless your spraying a very substantial amount, having a cam spec'd for N2O isn't going to benefit you much. IMO If your spraying under a 150 shot I would have the cam spec'd for N/A unless you spray the car 100% of the time. BTW that blower cam your looking at would definetly have better manners than your current cam but I would give Lloyd Elliott or Ai a call and have them make you something up.

What Stealth said. Unless your talking about a really big dose of nitrous just talk to Lloyd or AI and let them help you out. Are you sure the cam you have is really that bad for DD? Have you ever had it dyno tuned and or had a tuner spend some time with actual street driving?

Thanks man. It's a 224/230 .574"/.571" 107lsa on XFI lobes. Basically a cc503 on steroids, use to have that cam as well and it acts pretty similar just with a tad less drivability and a little more torque and lope.

ya, that sounds like an awsome grind. im hoping my new cam will get me close to your times.

well the most I would be spraying would be a 200 shot. Yeah I've worked with a guy around here that tunes with street driving, with no avail... but I think that might be due to I'm still running 3.42 gear...

with all you've said you should get a custom grind. Call both of them up and see what they have to say.

I have a GM847 with 3.42 gears and mine drives fine. I do have a stalled auto, though, which I know helps on the low speed stuff.

Take that money you were going to use to buy a cam and get a better tune, no reason that cam can't be very driveable. Also stepping down to the blower cam will hurt your performance, until you get in the 250+ range on the nitrous you don't need a nitrous specific cam.
