Impy SS headgasket question

Default Impy SS headgasket question

Doing h/c/i on my car and am going to run the thin gmpp impy ss headgaskets, thing is they do not say which side is up nor do they have any mark that would indicate such, and was wondering if anybody on here has had any experience with these headgaskets and could fill me in on which side is up on them, thanks for looking

i just guessed. just make sure none of the cooling jackets are blocked or oiling passeges

lol, how long have you been driving it with the new headgasket? do you remeber if the part number was up or down?

i believe i put the part number up. they have been on there for atleast 3 months. i cant remember exactly

I put the part # up also. Been together quite some time now with no oiling or cooling troubles whatsoever, so I guessing I installed them correctly

I remember my F body gaskets said "this side up" on them. But I remember the blue outlines in the gasket itself surrounding all the water ports in the gasket itself were facing the block, not the heads. I also think the PN was facing up (on that long tab is it?).

I also painted my gasket and installed it wet. Old school trick I picked up from drag racers. If you can source head gasket spray (which is fairly easy in the USA) you could go ahead and use it.

I don't think you would have problems with installing it dry anyways. Most people do so and are driving their engines without problems.
