Default WTF backwards air filter

I haev a 1996 firebird Formula LT1 For some reason my airfilter was installed with the metal side up, and the guy told me when i bought it that he had just changed it, well i found out that the airfilter today about a tad over 1k miles later that it was installed with the metal side up. How bad is this? would my engine be alright?

The paper side should be on the side that fresh air comes in from.

i wouldnt worry about it. Air is gonna be filtered either way. Obviously its more "ideal" for the filter to be installed correctly. Just flip it around and dont worry about

yeah itll get filterd, but will clog up alot faster. i wouldnt say it would be anything to worry about, unless parts of the filter are actually missing.

filter works the same both ways really, it will still clean the air without letting anything big like leaves ect threw. On my suncoast air box the filter has the Rubber seal on the bottom

clean it out good before you flip it. otherwise all that dirt that it filtered while backwards will be going through the engine.

Exactly what I was thinking.

The metal screen is to stop the paper media from being sucked into the engine when it's very dirty and becoming a restriction. THEREFORE metal screen side towards the engine.

If it's just a regular throw away filter, just throw it away and get a new one.

Yup clean it out good if you have to turn it around. Metal screen faces the engine and pleats face the air inlet.
