Default need help with exhaust

i have a 96 ss and i want to change the exhaust.....
it had the factory slp muffler with dual leftside exit and i took it off and just welded a dynomax bullet in place of it
i do not like the way the bullet muffler sounds at the back of the car and i would like to put it up under the car and then possibly run pipes back out the back.....

my question is what can i get away with as far as the cats go? i do have to pass an emission test but no sniffer test
i just dont know what i can do without setting the ses light on
are lt's out of the question with still passing emission?
my ss is one of the ones that had the extrude honed manifolds so they are better than stock....... so do any of you guys have pics of custom setups you have done

oh man should have just left the 2otl on it and just do a cutout if you wanted something louder. or if you want a nice affordable sounding exhaust get a hooker catback. they are reasonably priced.

no i didnt like the way the factorty muffler looked.... it sounded ok but i wanted something different and thats why i changed to the bullet muffler in the first place
im considering putting the factory muffler back on and putting the bullet muffler under the car then putting a cutout after the bullet muffler i dunno i cant make up my mind
i just cant ever find a car that still has cats on it that sounds good!!
