Default what heads ?

i have the opportunity to pick up a new set of afr 195,s ,but im also lookin at a set of le3,s that bein said i can get the afr,s for 1600 bills assembled what head do i run with i have the money just want oppinions

Well the LE3 heads are probably overkill for what you need. Go for the AFR 195's.

is there any porting on the AFR's or are they out of the box?

If they are out of the box they probably flow pretty close to what the le3's do. Than it would boil down to the nitty gritty. CC's, hardware, matching cam, etc.

When i build my motor (if funds ever allow) I am going to get le3's, but thats just me.

the afr,s are out of the box cnc ports . im really thinkin le3,s but will that leave me dead in the water if i wanted bigger or will i be better off on the afr,s and have them hogged later if need be

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to send Lloyd some stock castings? If the AFRs are cnc'd does it leave any room for further porting? If so, why not just purchase the right size head to begin with?

What cam will you be running? Comrpession? RPM range? Street car or race car?

Running a 208cc head on a 358 would not be beneficial in my opinion over the 195 AFR unless you plan on turning some serious RPM. I would rather have much more low-mid range torque with the AFR 195's than a couple more ponies up top with a large head like the LE3's but again that is my opinion. It really depends on cam choice, if your spinning say 6500rpm, I would imagine a smaller head like the LE2 being beneficial over the LE3 because of more average hp/tq throughout where the LE3 may make more power but only beyond say 6000rpm. Just my .02.

so according that read ,id be better off with the le2,s or the afr,s over the le3,s .id be runnin the 306 cam or the le2 cam as a pachage if i go the le2 way or a gm847 if i go the le3 or afr route .my comp ratio is high at like 12.5 -1 im also spinnin it to about 6500 now on the bottle
