Did you ask them if they go by the outside measurement? I could see the OD being 1 3/4 and the pipe be 1 1/16'' thick thus reducing the ID to 1 5/8''.

Why cheap out on headers? you can get a set of hooker LT's for like 350 bucks.

So even though you paid for one thing, got another of lesser value you would just give your money away?

This is typical of an Ebay sale. Junk cast in another country ( yes junk stainless steel) with a stolen or copied design from a real company gets sold and is not what was paid for.

I have been reading about those in the car forums and was going to roll the dice on them. I never like buying off brand stuff off eBay but so many were saying how nice these are and fit well, etc. Well...back to my original premise....eBay off brand copies suck. Thanks for the warning, 86....I knew they looked too good to be true.

tubing is generally measured from the outside diameter.. so if you figure in the material thickness you have .060 wall thickness 1.75 outside diameter headers..

if companies are going from 1.75 inside dia, your outer diameter is going to be 1.875.. or 1 7/8.. actually on a smallblock i think a 1.750 id would be big/overkill unless your running boost or nitrous..

seems like i read somewhere, maybe dr.gas website that on a mild smallblock 1.75 is to big and will kill performance. they were recommending 1 5/8 headers.

You should be able to LOOK at them and tell if they are 1-5/8 or 1-3/4...

Thats crock of BS!

I put 1 3/4 " headers on my 79 Z28 with the old shcool sbc 350 in it and picked up top end performance and did not lose a thing on the bottom end.
(Had 1 1/2 or 1 5/8 on it)
Smokes the hell out of the tires same as it used to but now it hits 100 mph where befored it struggled to hit 80.

I understand your point, but like you said it's all about application. If you were doing nothing else to the motor or something as slight as a set of 1.6 rocker arms, then I could see a set of 1 5/8 long tubes. You start talking about a more serious build and then a set of 1 3/4 are in order, and if talking about a strong smallblock with a 200 shot I would use 1 7/8. But that's just my opinion.

I just checked two primaries on my set of headers with a caliper and they came out to roughly 1.75" OD. I did buy one of their first sets though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vendor just sent what he had left in stock and was hoping 86formula didn't notice.
Good looking car you have there, I always liked that type of front end.
