which oil pump?

Default which oil pump?

since i have to replace my oil pan, i figure i might as well replace my oil pump while im there.

which one should i go with? i was thinking one from the dealer and then put in a high pressure spring but i thing that will proove costly. any suggestions?

I like my high pressure Melling I picked up from summitt. Came with a new drive shaft with metal collar. Are you putting a stock pan back on? Or are you putting a road race or drag race pan on? If you get a larger volume pan you could use a high volume pump.

And I agree, as long as the pan is off replace the oil pump, pickup, and drive shaft with the crappy plastic collar. I think the collar on mine broke and that is why my pressure dropped and killed my motor.

Melling 10554. Stronger select casting but still std pressure/vol.

You can use the GM white spring if you want more pressure.

Because the stock wet sump pump is submerged in oil all the time, it never really wears. I wouldn't bother replacing it as I've never seen a stock pump fail, IMO.

Upgrading to the GM white spring, tack-welding the pickup, and upgrading the pump driveshaft wouldn't be a bad idea though.

iv never seen a stock pump fail either but mne has been acting kinda funny. i keep loosing oil pressure in the higher rpms. so im gonna upgrade it a little just for insurance.

yea im gonna be running a stock pan. i do want more pressure tho.

where can i pick up that melling?

edit: nvm i just found it. that thing is kinda expensive tho. jegs has it for 85. the GMPP is 76

Any parts store has it. Jegs, Summit, etc.
