I would suggest that you talk to VA Speed and see if those boys can hook you up with one of them thar 427 ci LS3 motors...... spray the **** out of it in a light chassis at the lowest weight allowable and you could theoretically run 5.50's or so....

With 225hp on tap for nitrous your motor needs to make 700+ HP to be competitive.... cause at 3150 lbs you're gonna need about 1000hp to go sub 5.50's...

Yea I've been in touch with a couple different people on here. I'm gonna run this season with the LT1 in it, and then hopefully next winter start building for this class.

good luck..ive thought about doing a ls engine and using a a turbo deal..a 76mm with the right gear can get you to 1100hp..i was going to use a 6.0 block and then some decent g.m heads like 243's ported and a blow threw setup..you dont need a crazy flowing head when boosted..major thing is have decent exh numbers..i seen a 3500# regal run 5.20s with a 98/88 and just some brodix track 1 heads touched up..

if you could get the turbo to work with in the 330" and run close to the n2o guys you will get them on the top end and win..

Yea I don't think a turbo build is in the budget right now. Not that running nitrous is cheap by any means. I would love to have a turbo LS car at some point though.

its a small block n2o friendly class..i can tell you i know some of them boys that are going to be running in that class and there gunning for 5.30s...

if you do stroke your ride to 427ci..use a 5.85 rod it will give you a better ring package for spray..and the small bore thing is a tough deal but i know of gen1 engines in the 355-383 range that run 5.60s and such..just make sure you dont have to large of a valve in the head where it ends up shrouded..key for drag radials is good shock..you will want a good double adj out back to get the tire planted hard and keep it there..cars can 60" in the high teens and low 20s with a 275 radial..hoosier and the new goodyears seem to be the choice now.

hope this helps

yeah..if you use a blow threw setup a turbo is only around 200$ more..when doing it..i got a complete build price sheet for everything for a turbo and then a n2o plate setup and thats how much diffrence it was..the engine is the same so i took that out..but from carb, headers an exh, fuel system,n2o plate vs a s400 turbo it came out to only that much more..i was shocked..you dont need boost controlers and ****..run the car till you get around 10#s of boost foot brakeing and then use the waste gate as your boost limited..car will work and run like a ape...lol

the prices above is with me fabing up and doing everything myself also

That's the problem..... it's 1/8th mile.... there is no top end..... that's why alot of these 275 and radial classes are going to 1/8th mile cause the nitrous cars have a chance.... In the 1/4 the turbo cars are too much....

Definitely need a boost controller with a 275 tire, a damned good one.

i would expect 5.70's with a 383 LT1, those rules, and a 275. or faster.

i
Well this class was run at the Spring Civil Wars race at Rockingham and the fastest cars were in the 5.70-5.80 range. There was a turbo, blower, and nitrous car all within that range.

I think it could be done with a max effort setup but it would cost at least as much or more than building a 408 LS which would have a lot more potential. If you really think it could be done with an LT1 could you give me a setup that you think would get it done. I am really torn between staying LT and going LS.

i seen the class resuilts..just wait it will get faster..almost all the 275 classes start out in the 5.70 range and then bam 5.50s and 5.40s and then low 5s

im sure not everyone is showing there full hand yet..no one wants to get hit with weight right away at the start of the yr..

you will want a car that can run 5.50s an just leave it backed down..doing this will save some money because you wont be leaning on the son of a bitch all the time..

if you went to sgmp for the nights the lights went out in g.a then you seen trz black malibu..it did a wheel stands and cliped the wall and then came back out an ran 5.20s..that car is a slapped together turbo car..it has a 383 that was in there shop truck,a pt-gt4780 that was bought from a big rig repair shop, blow threw carb an thats it pretty much..they went 5.20s and feel they can go teens with it in ulitimate street which is 275.

they had a pt-gt4776 on the car an was running low 5.40s before they did the switch and kevin the driver told me they wherent even pushing it at all.

heres a car you might of seen before its 3450# with no boost controler and a borg warner s480..the owner told me they could of went 50s once they fixed the issue with the car...his whole turbo system counting headers, blow off, waste gate, carb, carb hat an turbo was like 1700$..now swap the s480 out for a gt47-76 an your still in the same price range seeing theres always 76mm used for sale..

or talk to steve johnson and get one if his special plates an use that but i know the plate is around 900$,then factor in headers, muffs and carbs an a second fuel system or added cost for a larger pump an your up there.

How much money would you like to bet that this class won't be in the 5.20's by the end of the year?

did i say 5.20s remember there was also the mir race going on at the same time..

all im saying is build a combo that can run faster then 5.70s because that class wont be 5.70s forever..you either want to win or just be mid pack..i know them rules read them fine and i know what 275 cars fit them and what some of them mother ******* run very well..

There is a big difference between this class and X275 they run at MIR. No progessives, boost controllers, or 7531 boxes are allowed. The turbo, supercharger, and nitrous jet limit are all smaller. Also I believe the weights are heavier. Not saying that this class won't eventually end up in the 5.50 range, but it won't get down into the 20s and 30s.

the weights are about the same for florida real street class and have the same jet size restriction on some of the 23 degree motors an they run singe stage plate..its a 5.30 class all day...yes you are right no 7531 or progressives..but guess what back in the early 2000s that **** wasnt around or being used and there was bfg radial cars going 5.30s and 5.40s on digi sets and reg msd boxs.

yes i see theres no boost controlers allowed..the car in the vid had no boost controler and was fighting supension issue and he sold it before he got it all sorted out..

You know you can make your own boost controler with a waste gate on the cold air side, digi set and co2 and no one can say **** because it would be legal..blower and supercharger cars been doing this for a long time to get around that boost controler rule.

also for n2o you can make a half *** 7531 almost with a reg box..run your spray on a digi set and then hook another up to your box an you can now have your spray come on .4 out but have the other digi set knock timing out for a window of time you may need.

theres always loop holes

I agree with suicidal racing on this that class is going to be allot faster i have freinds in a couple classes like that and everyone is sand baggin it! pretty much you would need to go over kill and be faster than the class you will be in to be competitive there. I personally wouldn't go lsx I would say the cheapest way you could do it is get a nice built sbc or bbc with and carb it will save you so much on tuning and the parts will be cheaper to get you there.

Carb is not an option since I have no idea how to tune one and would have to pay someone else to do it. I half-*** know how to tune an EFI car and one of my friends does a lot of LS tuning so I can always ask him for input.

I understand that all heads up classes get faster over time and that I need to aim for 5.50's at least.

Here is the qualifying sheet and results from the X275 race at MIR. Most of the guys are in the 5.50-5.60 range and this class has a lot tighter rules.
