my stock shortblock is running 5.9x's with an .082 jet. i am probably going to be building a cheezy scat forged 383 soon with a race/nitrous oriented cam and more compression. with the same ported factory casting heads i hope to pick up 2 tenths or more. that would put me in the 5.70's with the .082 jet.

oh yea, and this is on 275 goodyears, btw.

I understand that all heads up classes get faster over time and that I need to aim for 5.50's at least.

Here is the qualifying sheet and results from the X275 race at MIR. Most of the guys are in the 5.50-5.60 range and this class has a lot tighter rules.

you might want to look at last yrs qf sheets instead.alot of people are on new combos and had problems at the first mir race..thats a solid 5.0-5.30 class most the time for the top 16.

I think it would cost me just as much to build a 383 LT1 as it would a 408 LS1. I don't have many LT1 parts that I could use in either build.

Yea I understand that and again it proves my point. I don't see Real Street running 5.30's anytime soon and if it does I'm sure they will add rules to slow it back down.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a 358 LT1 complete with LT4 intake, TNT plate mounted behind TB (no solenoids), TB, PCM, harness, water pump, opti, everything, all for sale as a complete unit. It has been 5.80s in a 95 Camaro at 3600 lbs and consistent 6 teens on a 200 shot. Also with it is a fresh 396 LT1 shortblock with 3 center billet caps, billet rods, 4340 crank, forged dish pistons and lots of machine work done to the block. If interested, send me a PM.
