my buddy built a 383 and I polished his fuel rails for him too...they looked chrome!

also everything leading to the fuel pressure regulator polishes up very nice too (not that you can see it at all when in the car)

but yes, ive done this on my car and ive seen many people do it as well, but it wasnt factory.

Make sure you keep them shiny or they'll oxidize quickly!

Anodizing

Anodizing uses electricity to open up pores on aluminum and deposit a pigment inside those pores. It also hardens the surface of the aluminum. It is a process that is fairly straightforward to do at home. I recommend a book by Ron Newman as your bible for anodizing at home. I haven't tried the process yet, but the book is very comprehensive and Ron seems to get good results for his own business using these techniques

would it be safe to have fuel rails anodized? The coating couldnt wear off (if sprayed inside accidentially) and go through the engine, could it?

I took some I believe it was either 1000 grit or 10,000 steel wool, polished them up then finished it off with some Mothers chrome polish, A lot of people thought I had the rails chromed.. On another note, does anyone know where to get those chrome strips that go on the fins on top of the intake?
