Ok so my TA the crankshaft pulley is doing the twist back and forth to were it looks like it's going to slipe off and slap me across the jaw. i took the belt off to make double sure and it's the outer ring that i can litterly slide with my hand easily. i'm trying to upgrade that over my 72 coming up this weekend but i dont know what its called to order it. i thought it was a crankshaft pulley and i searched it on here and people are saying that you still have to slip the damper or some **** like that. blah i just need to fix it and hopefully upgrade it at the same time. any help. i'm new to lt1's but i know turbo ls1's

thats a harmonic balancer.. are you sure the bolts just arent loose

oh i'm positive. i litterly grabbed it and spun it back an forth in my hand with the belt off and wobbled it alittle back and forth. the bolts are on tight.

is there anything i can order as an upgrade to that?

the balancer has a rubber ring bonded between two pieces of metal. the rubber goes bad and the outer will spin. replace the balancer.if the motor isnt modified just get a stock replacement

done and done! i ordered a stock one owell. no biggie. i'll leave the moddin to the Camaro

Not a balancer. It is a damper. It does not balance anything. It has a rubber insulator that runs the entire circumference that can corrode over time.

poor engineering if you ask me. owell it's a great daily though
