Erratic idle, popping, backfiring etc.
Erratic idle, popping, backfiring etc. Hey guys, I am having some trouble pop up and need some help. I have searched and have not been able to find a specific answer. He is how it started:
The car started having misfire problems a while back but only when cold. As soon as the car would warm up the misfire would go away and the car would run fine. Well that misfire got worse over the past month but would still go away when warm.
The other night i tried to start the car after it sat for 3 days and it would not start. It was 14 degrees outside so i just figured it would take a second so i keep trying and eventually flooded the engine.
I checked the oil and it smelled strongly of gas so i changed it the next night. I figured i fouled the plugs and i needed to change to tr6's anyways so i changed them along with the oil. I also went ahead and installed a racetronix pump as i was needing to install it anyways.
Well the car started and i took it down the road and it still had its miss when cold but was running ok but the misfire only got worse and the car eventually started popping through the exhaust also when cruising. The car was cutting out, bucking etc. when cruising but would straighten up a bit under wot.
So i decide to put new plug wires on the car the next day...
that does nothing. I go ahead and take the opti out and apart expecting to have moisture build up but i found nothing. It looked perfect inside just as it should.
I put the car all back together and it is starting up and its cutting up at idol and still running shitty. So the only thing i can think of is fuel related problems but the pump is putting 42 out. Could i have a bad injector?? spark plug arching?
By the way the WHOLE ignition system has 4k on it.
