Unless one is completely against cutting into the fan shroud it really is no big deal and does not require much clearacing. As of a few months ago mine was still working fine and it's been on the car since 2005. I'm afraid because it hasn't been ran for awhile the seal may be dried up though.

my 97 has one. No problems at all. Its a Daily Driver listed in sig. 55 miles a day and cools just fine.
