Default Help, stripped knock sensor

Hey guys, first time posting on here. Really think this is a well managed site and has been a great help to me. Need help with a seemingly stripped knock sensor. I am in the process of trying to remove it to complete changing the water pump. It is on an lt1. When starting to remove the sensor I did not have to apply much pressure, the sensor spun but I can feel it skipping thread. I tried to use a plier while pulling and turning and this is not working. Would really appreciate any advice on removal. Thanks in advance for any idea's.

I am draining and flushing the block as well as changing the pump. The sensor is on the bottom passenger side of the block in front of the starter (single wire connection). I thought this also acted as a drain plug for the coolant on the pass side of the block.

You are correct. I guess some people are unaware.

It is not uncommon for the outer shell to "strip" when the sensor is stubborn to get off. You basically have to use whatever means (large vicegrips perhaps) to get it off, though you might need to buy a new sensor when you get through.

You will likely need a new sensor like shoe suggested, depending on how it looks when you pull it out.

Big slip joint pliers or vice grips. Just have to wrangle it off there. It will then be destroyed so a new one is in order.

No such thing as an LT4 knock sensor.

There is an LT4 knock module though.

Alright guys, I got it off with some channel locks. Did not realize the sensor was slipping in the housing. I removed the starter that made some workable room. Did destroy the sensor bought a new one at autozone 12.99 2 year warranty. So I got the pump off and it seems like there is too much play in the pump drive shaft. Is there supposed to be movement or do I have to replace the bearing? Thanx again for the direct reply's

**** you

No where in the first post did he say anything about flushing the block. Thats why i asked what it had to do with the waterpump removal. Again, if he said he was flushing the block it would of made sense. Just replying to what he wrote and asked. No excuses here....
