this one did 403/371

the main things are going to be compression, tune, head flow and just how much your going to lose through your stall.

so im going to shoot for the 390-400 mark for you

my first 383, with a half *** build from a guy named ERIC PARISH (con artist) made 323 to the wheels without boost. but after It came apart we figured compression was about 7.5:1

Power is made in the top end. What heads are you using?

7 liter oil pan?! What compression? What rear-end?

the heads are just stock and opened up I know I need LE3's but I don't have the money right now cuz I need to support the power that it will have right now.

Should I not get that big of an oil pan? Or, what would you guys suggest?

A 7-quart oil pan will work fine. More oil capacity = lower oil temps.

You still need to answer the "what compression" and "what rear end" questions.

You might want to consider bumping up your static compression. With that cam you will be able to run a much higher static compression to pull your dynamic up a bit higher. If you're building a 383, no reason to not take advantage of an increase in compression. 10.5:1 is stock. You could easily eclipse 12:1 to tighten up your quench a bit more and give you a healthy increase in power too.

yeah, the compression should def be higher. What oil pan are you using? I don't really wanna spend 500-700 on a bullit one or anything...so any suggestions would be great

I am using the Canton 242T. I think they run for around $300 or so.

So how much rwhp/rwtq for a 12:1 383, LE3 heads & ported intake, 847 cam, EWP, 58mm tb, LS1 lid, Pacesetter LT's, 3" true duals, m6 and a S60 rear?

Now you are getting the idea but do you already have the 847 cam if not get a custom grind when you order the heads. With this I would say closer to the 450hp range but you will also have room for a big shot of nitrous!

When I spoke to Lloyd about my setup and told him that I had the 847 but was willing to go with a custom grind or an LE4 he told me to stick with the 847 since my car is basically a DD with ocassional test n tune drag racing. He said my car would be more DD friendly with the 847 cam than the LE4 so that's why I kept it, I will also be adding a 150 shot on top of it.
