Help! Engine turns when I connect the battery
Help! Engine turns when I connect the battery I had to rebuild the engine so I put it back in connecting everything (not sure if everything is going to the right place) but it's all in. When I put the red cable on the battery the engine starts turning right away. The ignition is in the off position and the key isn't even in. Any ideas what it could be at all?
So go back over it and make sure. You probably hooked up something wrong. Either you hooked up the wrong hot wire to the starter solenoid, or you have a short somewhere.
I did and tried hooking up wires different ways and still the same thing. There is one big wire and two smaller ones that got to it cant figure it out. I took the engine out more than 3 months ago so I don't remember everything exactly so I could be that the wires are connected in the wrong place.
There's only 2 wires going to the starter solenoid. The big one off the battery, and the little one from the theft deterrent relay.
Thanks guys. I figured out the problem. There was a little metal piece I needed to bolt to the stud of the startor which I did but it was touching the body of the startor so it was shorting
