Default Alternator Brackets

Well, i put my cars engine together from the ground up, over the coarse of a year, and i lost (misplaced) the alternator brackets that go behind the alternator.. its supposed to have two black brackets or supports that it needs in order to hold the front bracket....

my question is... where can i buy these... or does anyone have a pair??? let me know thanks..

Lots of people delete them honestly. My alternator is held on by the two "meaty" bolts in the alternator casing - the black supports are long gone and it holds up just fine - belt alignment is fine.

I have the GM part numbers for both pieces, but it looks like they are discontinued. You can probably find them easily on the forums.

I have one lying around if you still one want. But as he said you dont really need it, that alt doesnt need extra solid motor mounts since it doesnt make that much RWTQ.

if you do find them, or get some....IMHO do use them. GM would not spend $.02 if they felt they had no purpose.

Many do run without them.....and some have reported cracked/broken accessory cast bracket.

Some even report belt slippage at the track under launch/WOT conditions without them.

YMMV

I would use them, too (if you don't want to take a chance on a broken alt casing or accy bracket).
