Default Gasket Matching and Porting

I dont have time to search right now. Gotta go teach Karate and Judo class in 10 min. At any rate, If I am just Gasket matching and cleaning up casting imperfections in my heads should I be ok to do so myself? I dont have access to a flow tester so I am just going to clean them up. I have Gasket and port matched intake manifolds before. Also, what would you expect the hp benefits of this would be. Thanks guys, I am sure this question has been beat to death already. Just dont have the time to use google or search.

you would be fine to gasket match and clean up the runners. but bowl blending is where your going to see alot of gains. dont be scared just dont get carried away.

Yeah, I know that with the intake side. You want to leave some texture to the runners. Not real fine but not course at the same time. The exhaust runners, is what you want to polish to a mirror finish to keep carbon from sticking to the runners. I have helped my father port heads on a SBC 350 before so I cant imagine its much different.

Little to no gain on an otherwise stock engine. Definitely not worth the time and effort to pull everything.

I home ported my heads and intake and ran a cc305, ran very well for a tin shed port job lol. I have been porting for 15 years on any thing I could get a hold of with great trials and error. Just take your time on blending bowls and DO NOT open exhaust ports to gasket size or you will kill velocity. Also you can work on the intake by removing most of the ski slope/hump on roof of intake runner where the injector comes through. If you have 93-95 head casting you can raise the roof to gain alot in the mid upper rpms.
