Eagle 4340 Forged cranks

We havent had any problems with the Eagle forged cranks, yes there has been some taper on journals, nothing that couldn't be fixed, but it sucks to have to grind on a brand new crank. Scat also has a standard weight forged 4" stroke crank for like $560.

You want to boost a 408??? You're a braver man then I! 
. I wouldn't put much nitrous or boost to that short of a piston, and that close to the water jackets, but its sure to be one NASTY setup if you do 
. I hope you are doing a half fill for cheap insurance.
Either way your project will be an epic build to follow, and a learning experience whether it works out or not

As of the end of last season (09) I have one engine with over 1000 low 10 high 9 second NA passes on a eagle crank and rods with JE pistons (Bracket car). We pulled the engine apart this winter just because it had so many passes on it and everything looks fine and could have kept on going. I had the crank polished and the rods checked,and the block honed and put it back together with new bearings and rings and I am not scared one bit of my eagle 4340 cranks. I have heard the horror storys on all brands of cranks and rods over the years and the one thing you need to find out is the WHOLE story. Mine has and I see no reason it will not live for a long time to come. Alot of times when stuff goes bad its because it was not assembled right in the first place. Although nobody ever admits to that they go straight to blaming the company that made the parts.
A buddy of mine had a eagle forged crank in his 408 LS motor, damn thing snapped in half and did not have much time on it. Where the failure was who knows, could be the machine shops fault but I have no faith in eagle anything.
IMO spend that extra money on a higher quality product that is more likely to pass inspection and not need machining.
^^^^^^^Exactly this is what my machinist/engine builder told me about the Eagle cranks, that he has never seen one that didn't need all of the journals machined to get all of them the same and this shouldn't have to be done to a brand new crank. However to each his own.
Talked to a guy from ohio crankshaft today. Unfortunately they don't have the lightweight versions in a 1 piece rear main. But their standard weight 4340 cranks are decent he said. He wouldn't be worried to put out 800+whp with it. Then again, that doesn't mean anything, but just saying what was told to me..

Well, I put in an email to Ohio about a 4" stroke crank. Hopefully they come back reasonable. The only issue I'm worried about is prices going through the roof because it's a "custom" crank. Seems to be the only people that shelf them is Eagle.
I have one. It balanced well. No metal needed to be added, however the crank snout diameter is a bit smaller than stock, I have to use an oversized pilot bushing and the flywheel/flexplate centering ring on the crank is over sized. I had to ream my current flywheel about .07 to make it fit.

balanced ok.
I really cant complain about eagle the parts have held up ok for me and I have abused it
eagle and scat both will need to be checked and final machined to the right spec 9 times out of 10..but once done they can take some power..i would buy callies first then lunati before..lunatis ive owned have been alittle on the heavy side..then other 4340 cranks ive had..if you got cash to blow..sonny bryant or winberg is the ****..ive owned 2 billet bryants and 2 winbergs..super nice products

Well, heard back from Ohio today....unfortunately they won't even make one for a 1 pc rear main.....oh well, I'm thinking I may end up with an Eagle, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
