How does the clutch safety switch work?
I'm installing a remote start in my Trans Am (don't worry its a Viper alarm that has safety features for a manual car).
Anyways, I need to bypass the clutch switch when cranking, but I need to know how it works before I can bypass it. When the switch is pressed, is there a wire that goes to the pcm that gets grounded or energized?

Thanks 97camaross I'll check out the diagram.
Nemesis, the alarm I have is a Viper 5901. It has a manual mode and here's how it works:
In order to activate the remote start feature while the car is running you must put the car in neutral, push the brake pull the ebrake up, release the brake, and press the remote start button on your remote.
Then you will turn off the ignition (the car will keep running) and get out of the car. Once the doors are shut and you arm the vehicle, the car will shut off. That's how the alarm knows for sure that you are in neutral. If the doors are opened any time after that, the remote start feature is disabled.
Pretty safe if you ask me
