96 vette mods?
96 vette mods? my dad has a 96' lt1 auto vette right now it has cat back exhaust(dont know what brand) k/n filter and a hypertech programer. last time we raced(at the track of coarse) i was mostly stock with just my cat back hypertech tune lid and filter i beat him by .1(this really hurt his pride i think he dont talk about racing me any more) now i have mods in sig plus a 3200 converter figure ill be mid 12's na and mid 11's on spray. my question is what can he do to keep up with me on motor he doesnt really want to spend too much money on this car cause he will probally sell it in another year or two and upgrade to a c5 z06 or a c6.

I have a 96 Vette and with a 2800 stall, ram air, 3.73 gears, 1.6 rockers, 52mm TB, DR's and stock exhause thru Borla mufflers I ran 12.68 @ 109mph. The stock exhaust on the car works fine for a mild motor. I had stock cast iron headers with cat's. I have rebuilt the motor now to a 355ci and went 12.03 @ 116mph with head work and a hot cam same exhaust. All my smog stuff is hooked up and passes no problem. I plan on putting LT headers and getting rid of the resenator and putting a X pipe in.
He can easly run 12's with just bolt on's and sell the car without hacking it up or go buy a C6 A6 and run low 12's stock.

you wouldve gone a lot faster if you long tube headers over the stock manifolds (theyre not called headers). i went 12.51 @ 110 in my 96 z28 with CAI, Headers, true duals dumped, 1.6rrs, 373s, slicks, skinnies, and a tune. so thats faster than you Vettestir, without me having a stall.

I know I would have gone faster with LT headers and I'm finally putting them on this year. Skinnies would be nice too. If he plans on selling the car later it would be easyer with stock exhaust and he could still reach mid 12's.
