it sounds good but it wont run out of its own way i drove around for a while two footing wants to stall out during breaking. it ideles at 1100rpm and revs good in neutral all day. im gonna get vids soon just been to busy working on it. im gonna check fuel pressure, its stock but it cant be that bad it has no pull and feals like a 15 second car. maybe the mail order tune is way off im gonna work on more tommorow plugs? no misses or surges it fired right upmaybe ill turn fuel pressure up im going to bed stumped its been a hard 2 weeks work.

i guess ill have to build a 7000rpm motor. i have no idea what happened, i never got any coolant in the oil during disasembeley everything looked great on the engine stand even the cylinder bores. it didt overheat the car just turned off while crussing about 75mph and wouldt even crank for about 30 miin. i wish atleast it would of ran good so i can atleast no how the combo is. could it of leaned out the plugs look like they came out of the box. i guess i wont know until i take it apart anyone have any leads on a solid shortblock or a decent crank kit.

You have a budget in mind for the bottom end? You can spend 2k to 5k on it it just depends on what kind of cash you have for it.

who did the mail order tune?? sounds like how it was running before i had my previous car untuned with the 306 cam in it. after the tune it ran great. could it be a tuning issue perhaps?? well that sucks man, i mean u werent even getting on it or beating the **** out of it just tryin to break it in. let us know what u find out after the tear down.

at 2k the best you can do is tear that engine down and see what is good in it and then have the block inspected and machined. If the crank and rods are still good you can do a 355 with a custom piston in it to match those heads. Even a cheap rotating kit for a 383 is still going to set you back about 1500. Best bet would be to take the engine out and have it gone through expecting to reuse the crank and rods. You can still get those exact rods and they are not to bad price wise and if need you can get a good lt1 crank for it but at that point it should really be ballanced by the machine shop. If they ballance it to 0 you are going to need to change flex plates or flywheel to a neutrally ballanced flex or fly. Pay close attention to this when you do what ever you are going to do because rotating kits that are pre ballanced are usually done to 0 and thats not how the stock bottom end is set up.
