people keep saying .051 are to big but stock are .050 but I'm thinking of going with the .045 if the .051 take to long... I just don't want a problem running pump gas in the car
Detonation is a function of octane fuel and dynamic compression ratio, not the static compression ratio. While the static does partly affect the DCR, it doesn't incorporate valve events from the camshaft.

Short version - don't worry about it. I'm running a zero-decked block, -5cc flat-tops, .028" gaskets, and a 53cc chamber on a mail-order tune with no detonation. My SCR is up around 12.5:1 and my DCR is around 9.5:1.

Still doesn't make sense? http://www.empirenet.com/pkelley2/DynamicCR.html and http://www.hotrod.com/pitstop/hrdp_0...ion/index.html

Ditto. Mine is very close to this as well with no detonation.

Personally I think you'll be fine with the .040 MLS Cometics....infact that's the same gasket I going to be using in my 408/blower build.....now granted I plan on having crazy valve timing and a bunch less SCR, but either way I'm going to use them.....even if I change my mind and stay NA. They're good gaskets and readily available, unlike the thicker ones.....

Tighten the quench - you'll improve combustion and efficiency.
