Default LT1 cold air vs LS1 lid swap

I have a question...How much does the LS1 intake lid conversion usually yield. I don't have the option for running a cold air because of room ( i am putting the LT1 in my 88 300zx), so its easier for me to convert to the LS1 intake/SLP intake lid conversion. Just wondering what LT1's see from it as opposed to a traditional LT1 cold air.

I love the look of the LS1 lid conversion, but if it had some better numbers, that would just be gravy....

Not really an option because of my engine bay set up. This isn't in a Chevy. Its in my Nissan 300zx. On the passenger side i have my coolant overflow, and on the driver side, i have my filter relocation and misc other sh*t. I was just curious if i would be loosing power or anything from having the SLP LS1 lid.

I really don't see it being any less efficient than a cold air simply because of how my engine bay is situated. The way my radiator is going to be mounted will block any heat from the engine. In fact, right in front is probably the coolest part of the car, and i have the entire front cowl shrouded so all air goes through my radiator...

from what i've seen other people post on here, the LS1 lid setup is more efficient and being a straight shot, will make more power and improve throttle response

I know you have a Nissan but my opinion about the LS1 lid swap on LT1 cars is that it generally looks like a hacked up pile of **** in 9 out of 10 cases.

Can you post a pic of the engine bay on your 300?

Here we go. This was when i was test fitting in the Gen1. I am going to set the LT1 in later this week when the rest of my parts arrive.

I don't have a lot of the accessories in...But if i tilt my radiator forward like my old setup, i can easily fit the LS1 lid on. Here is a pic of it slanted forward with my old V6 setup. You can see the radiator in the bottom of the pic.

I was looking for one that showed more of the core support to get an idea of if you can use the lid and make it look good or not. I would just make a nice CAI for it.

a nicely fabbed up LS1 lid would look very good if done correctly. Like the other's said, there's no better design for flow...

Facotry airbox<CAI
CAI<Ram Air
Ram air<LS1 Lid

now how much that last greater sign is equal to is anyones geuss, because, like I said before, I don't believe anyone has done official testing on it. The overall straightshot design just cannot be improved upon however...

you should see a nice gain, I've heard claims of gains of 10-15 over a CAI on here but have yet to see concrete proof of it. you can also use a larger LS1 85mm maf too

no, aftermarket maf's are a tuning head ache and a waste of money and good elbows are basically a cosmetic upgrade.

Does switching to the 85mm maf do anything. And i would need the maf to be the 3wire which was pre 2002 correct?

All the LS1 85mm MAF's are 5 wire, 3 for the MAF and 2 for the AIT Sensor, it's built in.

It's very easy to wire in. I'm running that big MAF cause I needed it.
