personally I like Ion @ madtuner.com
the other 2 big ones are pcmforless.com and trifectaperformance.com
a quick search would yield all the info you'd ever want on this subject....

Hand held tuners are a waste of money. Atleast get a good mail order tune if there isn't a good dyno tuner near you

Not trying to hijack the thread, but is a mail order basically where I would mail my pcm off to be tuned if it will not pass GA emissions after a hotcam install?

I've used a couple of the big internet name mailorder tuners....and my car currently has an ED Wright tune (been using Ed's tunes since about April 2006) ....I'm not saying he's the best, since I haven't tried them all but I will say if your car is mechanically sound...you will be SATISFIED by your FASTCHIP Tune....Ed is a class act and goes the extra mile to ensure everthing is good to go and the outstanding customer service continues well after the checks been cashed.

No....I'm not on Ed's payroll I'm just an extremely satisfied customer that found out the cheapest tune is not the most inexpensive.

^^^ Ed is arguably the "Godfather" of PCM tuning

I have used him on multiple engine builds

I've heard good things about PCMforless. I will probably go to them shorty for my tune. A buddy has had great experience with them.

My PCMFORLESS tune is hilarious. I'd send it to Ion or Ed Wright

Solomon has tuned my last two LT's and done an amazing job. I have heard bad stories about trifecta and pcmforless, so Id say you would be safe with Sol or madtuner.... and ironically they are the least expensive. But Solomon will retune with your datalogs for like a month for the same price as one madtune.... We are logging and retuning mine, and my previous tune was actually done on a dyno!! Solomon has probly got me another 10hp and we have at least another 20 to go, probly 30 or more.. My O2's are fouled and being replaced this week and I still have a ton of false knock. Just because you get a dyno tune, doesn't mean its a good one... And just bc a tune is inexpensive, doesn't mean its cheap. I would never use another tuner besides Sol @ lt1pcmtuning.com (now tuning LSX's also), unless I found a great, inexpensive, local dynotuner...

Last winter I did a T56 swap in my 94 z28, I drove it all last summer with the original A4 tune and my speedo is way off (about 50% low with stock gears). I would like to get a Custom mail order tune to recalibrate the computer so the speedometer works and the car will know that it is no longer an automatic.

My question is, Are these tuners capable of doing such a task? The local GM dealerships were absolutely lost when I explained what I needed done,(but said they could attempt to recalibrate it for $80 no guarantees YEAH RIGHT)

Monday, I'm going to make my phone calls see if one of these tuners could help me out with my situation. At the same time of the swap I also installed Pacesetter LT's and ORY (With E.G.R and A.I.R I know) So a tune would already benefit me.

To those who have also done the T56 swap ,who did you have tune your pcm?

yeah they are capable. Most of them do dyno tuning and thats where they get there numbers for tuning and info from. Your basically getting a copy of someones tune that had the same mods as you.

Thanks for the quick response bro. And your sig makes me laugh. After I got a mail order tune, would I still be able to use my old hypercrap programmer when I want to switch out ring and pinions or thermostat's?

Find a competent tuner locally and get it dyno-tuned.

Yea dyno tune would probably net you the most gains. I've used Ion at madz28 and he was good, now I'm givin Solomon a shot. For email order he gives you 3 free retunes if yu send him a datalog so he can fine tune it, I thought that was pretty cool
