OK i bought a 96 TA last week it will be the second LT1 car i have owned (other one was a 96 formula). The car has around 175K but is in great shape body and paint wise everything functions as it should. I got it for $ 3,000 and the engine and A4 still work perfectly but are both leaking fluid all over the place. It seems to me that the car is a bit of a dog though compared to the formula i used to have. I would like to get the car to run mid 12's in the 1/4, but it has to stay emissions legal to be driven legally in the part of PA where i live. Was wondering what the best direction to go would be while keeping the car easily derivable on the street? I am guessing i would need to be somewhere around 425 whp to achieve this goal? I would prefer the car as a m6 is this swap difficult or what's the headaches involved with that. Thanks for any input you may have i don't want to spend a huge chunk of cash on this car either btw. I have lurked around this board for years but didn't decide to join till recently, so try to spare me the newbie heckling

One more thing i forgot to ask.. The tag in the glove box is supposed to tell you what rear is in the care i believe? How do you tell it looks mostly like a bunch of 3 letter codes to me i cant gather much from it.

3.42 is the gear for the 6 speeds. i don't know what the GU code is though, GU2 is 2.73 and like you already found out GU5 is 3.23.
