Default oil pump pickup tube

I'm pretty sure my pick up tube fell off and i'm just going to get a new oil pump and pick up tube and tack weld the pick up tube to the pump.

but the problem I'm having is, i cant find a damn pick up tube for sale anywhere, i find oil pumps all damn day long.

any info would really help.

What pump are you going with, and what oil pan are you using?

EDIT: Why not just tack-weld your existing pickup to your existing pump and save a buck?

The only way the pick up tube will go bad is if you do not clean it before you put it in or you have a lot of crap in your engine. they are only ten dollars at Advance auto. Oh don't put a hole in it when you tack it. The pick up tube is only a 3/4 or 5/8 tube with a screen thats it.

Clean the thing thoroughly and then put it on and tack it, if the make sure you get all the cracks cleaned out because thats where junk hides. One problem is that the LT1s have a larger tube and most places don't keep that one in stock, i've never had a problem ordering one from a GM dearship.

Oil pumps RARELY go bad by themselves. They are the most lubricated part of the engine and don't wear nearly as much as other components.

Braze that pickup to the pump. And don't let them sell you a HV155.

IMO if you're going to be putting a new pump in, I'd go with a Melling select pump (10554). The 155s suffer from a weak casting and have been known to break.

What size pickup does that melling select use?
