What exactly is your oil pressure reading at idle and under load?
Have you used a mechanical gauge to verify the accuracy of the dashboard reading?

you know I read somewhere a while ago that an LT1 with higher milage could expect to run 7 to 10psi at idel and this is ok, and 25 to 40psi off idel and this is ok. don't know how true it is but as long as you don't have rods knocking and lifters tapping I would not touch it. Run a synthetic oil with a good filter and unplug the gage so you wont look at it. lol I have had several and they all seem to do the same thing. the oil pressure drops with age. The other 2 I sold out of fear, the last one I just put synthetic oil in it and forgot about it. I just pulled the engine 2 weeks ago and pulled it apart and it was fine. The bearings could have been run for another 50k miles at those pressures before they got to much slack in them.

The pump is not the problem. the problem is the bearings have some slack in them now and it causes the oil presure to drop becuase more oil gets past them and back in the pan. The only thing you have to worry about is if you spin a bearing and cut oil supply off to it. You will have some knocking going on when that happens
