Default ASR Removal

Okay so I have googled and searched. I found a couple of topics talking about the removal of the ASR box under the hood. So how exactly do you delete ASR but still maintain ABS if at all possible? Any links to a how-to would be great or any advice.

Are they tied into each other..as in do they use the same Sensors?

I don't see why you couldn't remove it, get the correct Throttle Cables, and just tuck the Wiring.

It uses the pickups and reluctor rings at the rear end usually a 4 channel. not sure how to go about it but the throttle cable and the cruise cables run to the asr motor in the engine bay. I would call a tunner to see if the asr function can just be deleted with out removing it first. I am supposed to call a tuner today if I can find my cam specs, so I can ask him if he knows about it. May end up being tomorrow though.

Im not 100% sure but from what I understand if you delete asr you WILL lose ABS. . . . no way around it.

You will have to get a Non-TCS Throttle Cable, and a Non-TCS Cruise one if you have Cruise.

You can get the cables from a non-TCS car, or from the dealer. I know the cruise cable is discontinued, but I was able to get one out of the warehouse.

ABS and traction control are directly tied together. If you remove that servo, both lights will come on and they will both be disabled. You can fix this by simply putting a resistor in the servo harness to trick the EBTCM into thinking the servo is still there (just like a CAGS delete). You will still have traction control, but the box will be gone and the gas pedal won't kick back at you.

But I will no longer have ABS if I do that?

Yes, ABS and traction control will work just as before (provided you stick that resistor in). The only difference is the box is gone, and the pedal will no longer kick back at you. If you want to do a burnout, you still have to hit that "ASR OFF" button.

By any chance do you have part numbers for these cables or what would they be called?

This is the cable I used GM# 12550676. I didn't worry about cruise cable. I am using a 3.6 ohm resistor that I bought at a radio supply place. Car is not running yet should be in 2 weeks will know then if resistor works

Default acr tcs removal

The Throttle cable(non tcs) I was able to get through my local GM dealership. The part number is 12550676. The cruise cable(non tcs) was discontinued through gm and none were available in warehouse. Its gm number is 12550719. I was able to find it locally from a parts car.

As to the resistor to put in the plug to shut the lights off on the dash.
Are we for sure its a 2.7 ohm resistor? Another member when I did a search on this topic used a 3.6 ohm resistor. Does it really make that much difference? Thanks for all your help guys!!!!!!

I second spartan and 4ormula! Just yank the servo and change the throttle and cruise control cables, then get rid of the lights. Cleans up the engine bay nicely
