Vigilante vs. Yank

Just get a cooler. I got one sitting, I've only seen temps of barely 150deg since getting the new trans and yank ss3600 only on the stock bbody cooler. Granted it hasn't heated up here yet, but we'll see what happens summer time. I'm not familiar with f body cooling setup but if you don't already have an aux cooler, definitely get one.

As we all know stock 4L60E's are weak, I trashed one with a bolt-on/stock stall car with 79k and another at 16k with my heads/cam car. Since you will be running a cooler it will really extend the life with the stall versus no cooler so I wouldn't be too worried about it just know that it will probaly be on borrowed time even without running a larger stall. I say get the stall because your drivability will be a million times better with it. When I had just the mild cc503 cam and no stall I lost alot of brake vacuum and the car would surge and pull at stop lights. It was a very unpleasant driving experience that got completely corrected when I tossed a Yank SS3600 in there. Not to mention the car performed a hell of alot better too.

My stock tranny went out at 101k with just 3.73's, stock stall, bbk shorties, and a catback.
Get the cooler and converter, don't beat the living hell out of the car, and you should be good for a year I would hope. When it does come time for a new one, I've had good luck with my Performabuilt Level 2. Other guys would likely recommend CPT, FLT Lvl 4 and higher, etc.
Please jump in with other good transmissions as I'm sure I forgot some.
